Overview

What is .place

The word place means a spot or a location. .place entered the internet’s root in 2014 and is run by Binky Moon, LLC. It names no particular place, so the name before it makes its meaning: beit-nizwa.place or qahwa-omaniya.place, and visitors know they’re looking at a place they can go to.

.place suits cafés, restaurants, event halls and guesthouses, and any place that wants to show its photos, opening hours and how to get there. It can carry the name of a neighborhood or a street, or gather one city’s places in a single guide.

With us its price is fixed for the first year and every renewal. The word is general, so without a clear name before it, it says nothing; and it’s less familiar than .com, so your customer may type .com out of habit. If your visitors are in Oman, put the neighborhood or city in the name, so they know at first sight where to find you.

What it does for you

What you gain when you register it

  • A place to visit

Tells visitors there’s a door to walk through behind the site, not just a page.

  • Email in the place’s name

  • A price that doesn’t change

The first year and every renewal cost the same.

  • Names still free

Short names are easier to find in it than in .com.

And where its value shows

On the front door

The address under the sign itself.

On maps

Your link beside the pin.

On the guest’s bill

They come back to it when they miss the place.
