Overview

What is .pizza

.pizza comes from the word itself, pizza, a dish now known in almost every country. It speaks to pizzerias, their ovens and delivery services, and to those who teach how to make it or sell its tools. It was added to the internet’s root in 2014, and IANA’s record names Binky Moon, LLC as the body responsible for it.

Few extensions say what you sell this clearly: the customer understands from the address alone that they’re about to order food. It supports names in Arabic and DNSSEC signing, so the shop can register its name as it’s written on its box.

We have an offer for its first year, and renewal costs more, so work it out before you register. It doesn’t stretch beyond pizza, so if your shop becomes a restaurant with a full menu it will feel tight; and it is among the less common extensions, so it may look new to some customers.

Who it suits

For your field: is .pizza the best fit?

Every field has an extension that says something about it. Here is what .pizza says in each, and which extension completes it.

  • A pizzeria

    Excellent · The first choice

The shop’s name then .pizza says the whole menu, and sticks from the first order.

    Register it with.pizza.com

  • Pizza delivery in Saudi Arabia

Good · A good fit with .delivery

.pizza says what you deliver, and .delivery tells your customer in Saudi Arabia their order is on its way.

    Register it with.pizza.delivery

  • A chain of branches

Good · A good fit with .com

The brand on .com, and the order page on .pizza under the same name.

    Register it with.com.pizza

  • Pizza-making classes

    Good · A good fit

It says what the class is about; .cooking is broader if you teach other dishes.

    Register it with.pizza.cooking

  • A restaurant with many dishes

    Consider another · Consider .com

Pizza is one of your dishes, not all of them; .com doesn’t box you in.

    Register it with.com.delivery

  • A food blog

    Consider another · Consider .blog

A blog about many dishes is cramped by a single-dish extension.

    Register it with.blog.cooking

Tips

Before you register

  1. 1Don’t repeat pizza before the dotThe extension says it; the shop’s or neighborhood’s name before it is shorter and clearer.
  2. 2Give each branch a page, not an addressOne address customers remember beats scattered ones.
  3. 3A short name, read as it’s writtenIf it needs spelling out on the phone, it’s too long or too complicated.
  4. 4No digits or hyphens that need explainingEvery hyphen or digit has to be said, and what has to be said gets forgotten.
  5. 5Renew automatically, or register for yearsUp to 10 years at once, so you never miss a date.
  6. 6Make sure the name isn’t someone else’s trademarkA registered trademark’s owner can recover the name from whoever registered it first.

After expiry the website and email stop, and you can renew in the first eight days at the regular renewal price; from day 10 it may go to auction.
