Overview

What is .business

business is an English word for a commercial enterprise or venture, and one of the first words anyone entering the business world learns. So it suits whoever runs a business of any size, a workshop, an office or a small company, and wants their name to say they are serious about what they offer.

.business entered the internet’s root in 2014, is run by Binky Moon, LLC, and supports DNSSEC signing and names in Arabic letters. With us its price is the same for the first year and every renewal. It is longer than .biz, which shortens the same word, but it reads in full without anyone asking what it means.

Its word is familiar but fairly long, and its spelling isn’t easy for everyone. It is general and doesn’t say what your field is, only that you are a serious business. So write it in full on your card, and register your name in .com if you find it, since that’s the first thing people type when they forget the extension.

Who it suits

For your field: is .business the best fit?

Every field has an extension that says something about it. Here is what .business says in each, and which extension completes it.

  • A local business directory

    Excellent · The first choice

The word itself says what the site holds: the city’s businesses and their owners in one place.

    Register it with.business.com

  • A small or medium company

    Good · A good fit

It says you’re a serious business, and you find in it the name someone else took before you in .com.

    Register it with.business.com

  • A local business in Kuwait

Good · A good fit with .com

.business says you’re serious, and .com is the first thing your customer in Kuwait types out of habit; register both.

    Register it with.com.business

  • A consultant or freelancer

    Good · A good fit

Your name with .business says you work for yourself, seriously; for a personal touch, .pro is closer.

    Register it with.business.pro

  • An online store

    Consider another · Consider .store

The customer is looking for a store, not a company; .store or .shop tells them so directly.

    Register it with.store.shop

  • A tech startup

    Consider another · Consider .tech

Tech startups are known by .tech or .io more than by a general word like this.

    Register it with.tech.io

What it does for you

What you gain when you register it

  • A name that says you’re serious

ruwwad-kuwait.business reads as the address of an established business, not a passing page.

  • The name others took first

Many names taken in .com years ago are still free here.

  • Email for work

info@ruwwad-kuwait.business on invoices and quotes tells your customer they are dealing with a business.

  • A cost that doesn’t change

You know what you’ll pay at every renewal as well as you know it today.

And where its value shows

On quotes and invoices

A name fit for an official document.

In the company profile

An address that matches what you offer.

At fairs and meetings

A business card with a serious name.

In the email signature

A professional address, written once and kept.

Tips

Before you register

  1. 1Write it in full, don’t shorten itbusiness, not biz: the second is another extension, where the name may be someone else’s.
  2. 2Register .biz with itThe abbreviation and the full word, so whoever types either reaches you.
  3. 3A short name, read as it’s writtenIf it needs spelling out on the phone, it’s too long or too complicated.
  4. 4No digits or hyphens that need explainingEvery hyphen or digit has to be said, and what has to be said gets forgotten.
  5. 5Renew automatically, or register for yearsUp to 10 years at once, so you never miss a date.
  6. 6Make sure the name isn’t someone else’s trademarkA registered trademark’s owner can recover the name from whoever registered it first.
