Overview

What is .store

store is a simple English word for a shop, and many people understand it without translation. So it suits anyone who sells something online: a store for clothes, perfume or spare parts, or a shop in the market that now takes its orders through its website. The name itself tells the visitor what to expect before they open the page.

.store entered the internet’s root in 2016, is run by Radix Technologies Inc., and supports DNSSEC signing and names registered in Arabic letters. Its meaning is clear to anyone who buys online, so a customer needs no explaining to know they are in a store, and you need not explain it.

With us its price starts with a big first-year offer, then renewal costs much more, so count the cost of the following years from the start. It is a new extension, and some people still type .com out of habit; so register your name in .com too if you find it free.

Who it suits

For your field: is .store the best fit?

Every field has an extension that says something about it. Here is what .store says in each, and which extension completes it.

  • An online store

    Excellent · The first choice

It tells your customer they are in a store before they open the page, and you find short names in it that were taken in .com years ago.

    Register it with.store.com

  • A shop selling in Oman

Good · A good fit with .delivery

.store says you sell, and .delivery tells your customer in Oman their order will reach their door.

    Register it with.store.delivery

  • A company or brand

Good · A good fit for its store

.com stays for the company’s name, and .store for its online store once selling becomes part of its work.

    Register it with.com.store

  • Selling digital products

    Good · A good fit

The customer understands that what they find is for sale, whether a file, a course or a template.

    Register it with.store.digital

  • A services company

    Consider another · Consider .com

Whoever offers a service, not goods, confuses their customer with the word store; .com or .solutions says exactly what you do.

    Register it with.com.solutions

  • A blog or personal site

    Consider another · Consider .blog

A store’s name on a blog suggests selling, not writing; .blog or .me is closer to you.

    Register it with.blog.me

Tips

Before you register

  1. 1.store for the store, .com for the company’s nameIf your business grows, the company’s name still gathers everything, and the store keeps its extension.
  2. 2Count the years, not the first yearThe offer eases the start, but the higher renewal is your store’s real yearly cost.
  3. 3A short name, read as it’s writtenIf it needs spelling out on the phone, it’s too long or too complicated.
  4. 4No digits or hyphens that need explainingEvery hyphen or digit has to be said, and what has to be said gets forgotten.
  5. 5Renew automatically, or register for yearsUp to 10 years at once, so you never miss a date.
  6. 6Make sure the name isn’t someone else’s trademarkA registered trademark’s owner can recover the name from whoever registered it first.

  • $13 for the first year with an offer, then $73 for each renewal. Look at the renewal price before you register: it’s what you’ll pay every year after the first.

  • Anyone, person or organization, from any country, with no documents or conditions; the contact details in the owner’s name just need to be accurate.

  • Yes, once 60 days have passed since it was registered or last transferred. Ask your current provider for the transfer (EPP) code and open a transfer request with us; a full year is added to the domain’s term.

  • We remind you by email 31 days and 8 days before expiry, and 3 days after it. After expiry the website and email stop, and you can renew in the first eight days at the regular renewal price; from day 10 it may go to auction. If it is deleted and the registry allows redemption within 30 days, the redemption fee is $200 plus a year’s renewal.

  • Yes. The body responsible for .store has an Arabic table in IANA’s repository of internationalized names (IDN), so the name is written in Arabic and stored in a form that begins with xn--.
