Overview
What is .biz
.biz entered the internet’s root in 2001, and its name is short for business, written as it sounds. Its meaning speaks to commerce in every form: a small company, a shop, a service office, or a new project that wants an address saying it is a business, not a hobby.
Its manager in the IANA record is Registry Services, LLC, and it supports DNSSEC signing, but it has no table for Arabic letters in IANA’s records, so a name in it is Latin letters, digits and hyphens. Its price with us is the same for the first year and every renewal.
What you should know, frankly: its reputation with some mail filters is mixed, and some people see it as a second-rate alternative to .com. So it serves you better as an extra name or a campaign address than as the only address for your company and its email.

Tips
Before you register
- 1Your company’s email on .comAnd make .biz an extra address leading to your site, so your messages don’t carry its reputation.
- 2Check your name in .business tooThe full word instead of its abbreviation, and you may find the same name free in it.
- 3A short name, read as it’s writtenIf it needs spelling out on the phone, it’s too long or too complicated.
- 4No digits or hyphens that need explainingEvery hyphen or digit has to be said, and what has to be said gets forgotten.
- 5Renew automatically, or register for yearsUp to 10 years at once, so you never miss a date.
- 6Make sure the name isn’t someone else’s trademarkA registered trademark’s owner can recover the name from whoever registered it first.
