Who owns the domain, when does it expire, and what’s its status?
Check the registration details of any domain, and find out when it was registered, when its registration expires, and who registered and owns it.
Several domains in one lookup
Your domains and your clients’, soonest to expire first
Paste up to ten domains, in any extensions together, and we’ll ask each one’s registry and sort them by expiry date, so you never miss a renewal.
How we ask the registries
The extension’s own registry answers you, not a copy of it
Every extension has a registry that keeps its names. The site asks that registry directly: by the modern RDAP service first, and by the traditional WHOIS service where an extension offers nothing else.

Answers with the domain’s record, or that it doesn’t exist
No “Not registered” unless the registry says so
We say it when the extension’s registry itself says it. Any other answer, an error page or a timeout, we show as “Check failed”, so no plan gets built on an unconfirmed answer.
A limit for each visitor
Up to 20 lookups a minute from each visitor, so the registries’ quotas stay open for everyone.
We remember answers briefly
We keep a registered answer for 10 minutes and a not-registered one for two minutes, so we don’t ask the registry about the same name twice.
A slow registry doesn’t hold you up
We wait up to 8 seconds for an answer; if none comes, we say so right away, and you can try again.
And subdomains? We cut what you type to the name a registry holds: shop.dukkan-alkhor.com is looked up as dukkan-alkhor.com, so a subdomain is never read as available.
Status codes
What does clientTransferProhibited mean?
Registries record a domain’s status in technical codes. We translate each code into what it means for you: whether it works, whether it’s protected, and whether it’s close to deletion.

Domain life cycle
From registration until it’s available again
A domain that isn’t renewed doesn’t vanish at once: it goes through stages, each with its own options. The periods differ by extension, as its registry sets them.
- 01RegisteredWorks in its owner’s name until its expiry date
- 02ExpiresIts site and email stop if it isn’t renewed
- 03Grace periodRenewable at its regular price
- 04Redemption period30 days for generic extensions, with a restore fee
- 05Pending delete5 days in which it can’t be recovered

Privacy
We show what concerns the domain, not its owner
What’s shown
- Registrar
- Registration, expiry and last-updated dates
- Status codes, translated
- Name servers and DNSSEC
What we don’t show
The owner’s name, email, phone and address. We don’t show them even if the registry makes them available, and global registries withhold them anyway to protect domain owners.
Privacy protection for your domain
A paid add-on for global domains that hides your details in the domain’s record.

Questions about WHOIS
Didn’t find your answer? Our technical support team is with you around the clock.
Contact supportIts registrar, its registration, expiry and last-updated dates, its status codes and its name servers, as its extension’s own registry states them. We don’t show the owner’s personal details.
With every extension whose registry offers a lookup service: the classic ones like .com, .net and .org, the new ones like .store and .online, and the country extensions. We ask each extension’s registry itself, by RDAP or the traditional WHOIS.
Because we only say “Not registered” when the registry says so. If the registry doesn’t answer in time, or returns an answer we can’t make sense of, we say so clearly; try again in a minute, or ask us and we’ll check for you.
Search for it with another extension on the domain registration page, or look at its expiry date here: a name that isn’t renewed goes through its grace and redemption periods, then becomes available to whoever asks first.
The tool is for lookups only. When a domain is available, we point you to the domain registration page with the name filled in, where you’ll see its price and registration periods and can register it.
Know everything about a domain before you decide
Look up any domain: who owns it, when it expires, and what its status means. And if you find it available, the domain registration page takes it from there.
