Overview

What is .plus

plus is an English word for added, and it follows the names of services to say there’s something extra in them: a premium subscription, a fuller version, or features only subscribers get. It suits members’ clubs and subscriptions, and brands that want a name read as a higher tier.

.plus entered the internet’s root in 2015, is run by Binky Moon, LLC, and supports DNSSEC signing and names in Arabic letters. With us its price starts with a first-year offer, then renewal costs several times as much, so count its cost over years before you build a subscription on it.

It doesn’t name a particular field; it adds to what comes before it, so its strength lies in the name ahead of it. nadi-doha.plus reads as a premium club membership, while a meaningless name before it stays meaningless. It is less widespread than .com, so register your name there too if you find it.

Who it suits

For your field: is .plus the best fit?

Every field has an extension that says something about it. Here is what .plus says in each, and which extension completes it.

The word that means the higher tier, in the subscription’s own address.

    Register it with.plus.com

  • A sports or social club

  • An app or digital platform

    Good · A good fit

Your app’s plus version at its own address; .app for your main app.

  • An association or official body

    Consider another · Consider .org

The word plus suggests a paid subscription, not a body that serves everyone.

    Register it with.org.community

  • An online store

    Consider another · Consider .store

The customer is looking for what’s for sale, and .plus doesn’t tell them that.

  • Yes, once 60 days have passed since it was registered or last transferred. Ask your current provider for the transfer (EPP) code and open a transfer request with us; a full year is added to the domain’s term.

  • We remind you by email 31 days and 8 days before expiry, and 3 days after it. After expiry the website and email stop, and you can renew in the first eight days at the regular renewal price; from day 10 it may go to auction. If it is deleted and the registry allows redemption within 30 days, the redemption fee is $200 plus a year’s renewal.
