Overview
What is .art
.art comes from the English word art. It speaks to artists, galleries, museums, art schools and those who sell artworks, and to anyone who makes something to be seen and contemplated. It was added to the internet’s root in 2016, and IANA’s record names UK Creative Ideas Limited as the body responsible for it.
Its shortness is an asset among new extensions: it is easy to write and say, and people everywhere understand what it means. It supports names in Arabic, so a calligrapher or a painter can register their name in its own letters, and it supports DNSSEC signing too.
With us its price is the same in the first year and at every renewal. But short general words go first in every extension, and .art is no exception, so your own name is easier to find than a general word; and it stays less familiar than .com to a customer who doesn’t know the art world.
