Overview

What is .global

global is an English word for worldwide, and it says the name’s owner doesn’t stop at one country’s borders. It suits export and international shipping companies, organizations working in more than one country, and companies setting out from Beirut for markets in other countries.

.global entered the internet’s root in 2014, is run by Identity Digital Limited, and supports DNSSEC signing and names in Arabic letters. It is among the pricier extensions on our list; it starts with a first-year offer, and renewal costs more, so count its cost over years before choosing it.

The word is a promise of size: a small company in a single city may look bigger with it than it is. It is less widespread than .com, which the whole world knows, so if the name is free in .com register it too, and make .global the address that states your ambition.

Tips

Before you register

  1. 1A name read in every languagePick a name before .global that’s easy for a partner in any country to say, not one that needs spelling out.
  2. 2A page for each market under the same namesadirat-beirut.global/de and sadirat-beirut.global/fr instead of a new name for every country.
  3. 3A short name, read as it’s writtenIf it needs spelling out on the phone, it’s too long or too complicated.
  4. 4No digits or hyphens that need explainingEvery hyphen or digit has to be said, and what has to be said gets forgotten.
